Each day in the UK, 10 babies are stillborn and 152 babies are born prematurely causing untold heartache to parents and extended families. Sometimes mothers delay seeking help when they are worried, because they percieve that their concerns are not important or that the hospital will be too busy.
In 2017 Tommy’s, with King's College London and BabyCentre, launched a safer pregnancy campaign called #AlwaysAsk to empower pregnant women to overcome fears about speaking to professionals about health concerns. CHFT maternity services is a supporter of this campaign.
Research from King’s College London has shown that women’s knowledge about their own changing body is invaluable in contributing to safer pregnancies but that they often struggle to voice their instincts and concerns.
CHFT maternity staff are always here to listen to you and to help you. We want you to trust your instincts and please, #AlwaysAsk
Here are some links to #AlwaysAsk resources that might help you to feel more confident about asking for help and advice whenever your instinct tells you that something just isn’t quite right.
